Daggers are fast but short range and low damage. As such they require better positioning and reactions to enemy movement to avoid getting hit.

Rapiers have longer range, about same as swords, and are slightly slower but can compensate for that using the Hundred Kiss technique.

Both weapons are considered daggers by the game and both are buffed by the “Dagger Experise” Yellow shard. However Daggers and Rapiers have separate Techniques, even if you master a Dagger technique you can't use it on Rapier, or vice versa.
