Each shard type corresponds to a different category of ability, and they can be upgraded to enhance their effects. Here are the main types of shards in the game:

===Grades===

Increasing Grade: When you collect multiple copies of the same shard, the grade increases automatically.
Effect of Higher Grade: A higher grade generally enhances the shard's base attributes, such as increasing damage for offensive shards or extending the duration for utility shards.

===Ranks===
Ranks represent the level of mastery over a shard, which can be upgraded at Johannes's workshop.

Increasing Rank: To increase the rank of a shard, you need to use specific materials that can be found or crafted in the game. Upgrading a shard's rank is done through Johannes.
Effect of Higher Rank: Higher ranks usually improve the shard's functionality, such as adding new effects, reducing mana cost, increasing the range of abilities, or unlocking additional features.
