IGAVANIA (n): A gothic, exploration-focused action platformer, designed by one of the godfathers of the genre!

IGAvania was a term created during the Kickstarter and defined [[https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/iga/bloodstained-ritual-of-the-night|there]].

The term is synonymous with "Metroidvania", but may further specify that the game was designed with Koji Igarashi involved, also know to his fans as "IGA".
